Iksan City, South Korea (1983)

Situated in the Jeonlabug-Do Province, in the East Central part of South Korea, it has the distinction of dating its history to 500 AD. Today it is a modern industrial city and home to numerous factories producing textiles, gems, jewelry, metal, electrical products and machinery. It is also home to many agricultural, fishing, construction and transportation industries.

The surrounding countryside is lush with farms having rice as the prevalent crop. Iksan City is the core of the southwestern part of South Korea. It has abundant cultural assets as an ancient capital of Mahan State and the Baekje Kingdom.

KAIZUKA/CULVER CITY RAISING MONEY TOGETHER TO HELP THE RELIEF EFFORT

The Culver City Sister City Committee will be collecting money for the relief effort and sending it to our Kaizuka sister city organization which is part of the city of Kaizuka. Kaizuka will be forwarding the funds along with the funds they are collecting from their citizens directly to the Japanese relief organization.

We are accepting checks (noted for Japan Relief) and they should be sent directly to:

Contributions are tax deductible and receipts will be issued for all contributions. The U.S. Bank will be waiving bank charges for the transfer of the funds to Kaizuka.

It is at times like this that we realize we are all the same. An earthquake, a tsunami, a volcano, a flood, a tornado, etc. can happen anywhere to anyone. What makes us human is our spirit and compassion to help each other.
